Gift gallery is giving out photo magnets in exchange for handmade Valentine cards which will be distributed to assisted living homes.
Berkley, Michigan, January 14, 2010 – Once the hustle and bustle of December is over, often the cold months of January and February can feel lonely. Inspired to extend the season of giving, gift shop owner, April McCrumb wants to share some love with nearby seniors.
Remembering how fun it was to make handmade Valentine cards as a child, McCrumb thought it would be great to encourage kids and adults of all ages to take a little time to create something that’ll bring a smile to someone’s face. “In this world of email and social media, it’s easy to forget how lovely it is to receive a hand written note or card from someone who cares.” says McCrumb.
Catching Fireflies will be collecting cards from the
community until February
11 and hopes to gather
enough to distribute to a few
assisted living homes near their store locations in Berkley and Rochester. McCrumb states, “After finding the quote by
Hannah Moore that reads, ‘The heart that gives, gathers.’ I decided to create
my own special Valentine for those who participated in this project.” So as a
thank you for bringing in three or more handcrafted or colored cards, Catching
Fireflies will be giving out this specially designed heart photo magnet with
any purchase.
