Since our dear Samson's passing, our cat Tuesday has diligently been greeting Steve and me at the door when we return home... but it's just not the same (sorry Tuesday, we still love you). We both agreed it was time to bring a new pooch into our home.
Sticking with our love of dogs that have big hearts, personalities and short legs... we decided that a Basset Hound would be a perfect match. And with the help of Petfinder.com and the Ohio Basset Rescue we are now the proud parents of 3 year old Gus!
(now Tuesday can return to her normal nap schedule)
He is incredibly affectionate and clearly thinks he is a lap dog.
Clowning around is one of his other talents, along with sniffing everything in sight...
... and leaving pee-mail on every plant he can.
Oh, he also really enjoys watching us eat.
I just love his funny feet. Here is his fourth position (for all you ballet novices out there)
He has so many other funny paw poses, however when I try to take a picture at his level, he immediately hops in my lap.
It's safe to say he'll be bringing lots of love and laughter in our lives (and hopefully yours too!)

Gus is a very comical fellow, who obviously enjoys life. You will have to have him join the parade in Birmingham. They have hundreds of bassets marching. Amazing to see a large group of these cuties! Congrats on your new arrival!

Hi April, I'm Maribeth from OBR, the Adoption Coordinator. Gus has certainly found his forever home, and how lucky he is. Gus was causing a frenzy with so many people wanting him, and Andrea and I both felt your home was the perfect match. Thank you for giving him his forever home, and we look forward to updates. It was a pleasure to adopt one of our homeless houndies to you. Gus is sure to make everyday sunshine for everyone he meets. Thank you for sending pictures, it is always so fun to get new updates.

I loved seeing the photos of your new Basset hound! We have a 7 yr. old Basset, named Samantha. We had our first Basset, Penelope, for 14 years. They are great pets. It helps if you have a sense of humor! They are quite quirky. Very loving dogs, who are quite adept at getting what they want. Ours is getting a little heavy...too many treats. It's bad for her back, so we are working on that. Good luck!
