wine glasses with a twist
Meet Brian and Christa of the green glass company in Weston, Wisconsin. I had the pleasure of getting to know this delightful couple at the New York Gift Fair and think their take on recycling is brilliant. And I'm not alone... their hip stemware has already made to the shelves of Barneys and Anthropologie!
The Green Glass Company takes discarded wine and beer bottles to an environmentally friendly and elegant level. By simply adding a twist, they produce two separate drinking glasses from one bottle without any waste glass. The bottom portion of the bottle becomes a tumbler and the top portion a goblet.
All of their bottles come from the waste stream and are sorted and supplied by a partner network of wineries and wine festivals. Sometimes they also have been supplied 'resort' glass which are those bottles that have failed quality control at a glass manufacturer and are destined to be crushed.
Currently, catching fireflies carries the colbalt and cyan wine glasses created from reclaimed bordeaux bottles... a perfect gift for a wine lover. $16.50 each
