And last but not least, let me introduce you to our new family of bamboo ducks. They come in three lovely sizes... daddy duck, mama duck and baby duck. They're all uniquely different and each has their own name.
To create these wonderful free-standing ducks, skilled artisans start with shaping the root to reveal its inner duckness. Recycled teak reclaimed from old buildings, railroads, bridges, and homes are carved into heads, legs and feet and attached to the body. A specialized coat is applied and a personalized teak nametag is strung over every beak before they gather in bunches for the Great North America Migration.
These cute quackers are carved into 5 different shapes and look charming in a small grouping inside or out.
The coolest part of this story is... for generations, Southeast Asian villagers cleared bamboo fields and the roots were tossed into a large pile and burned. But now today's villagers have found employment and are preventing the air pollution this once caused. Click here for some more facinating facts about bamboo.
